Located in Central America, the republic of Costa Rica boasts of an ocean - the Pan Pacific - on one side of the coast, and a sea - the Caribbean on the other.
It is a very popular destination for tourists; with an increasing number of people planning a vacation each year in this small country. The reasons for its popularity are for you to see, once you land up there. Two things that are an instant hit with tourists are – the warm hospitality and the yummy food. It is a pure delight to dine in Costa Rica. The snug and welcoming restaurants and eateries make you feel at home the moment you step into them. The best of the restaurants here are the best ‘steakhouses’ you can ever come across anywhere else. Along the coast, most wooden-building restaurants serve great steaks and seafood, cooked in different ways, topping the delicacies with an awesome view of the vast water-bodies. The mouth-watering food and the spirit with which it is served in Costa Rica is yet to be beaten by any other tourist destination. A few famous delicacies that are traditional favorites, other than steak, (not mentioned in the local language) are – - Stewed beef and rice served with corn and beans and plantains In San Jose, there is a house of the famous Costa Rican ‘themed restaurants’, operating in unique style. They have Italian owners who provide not only the local food, but the traditional Italian food as well. These beautiful little restaurants are usually packed during lunchtime, with daily specials for a majority of the crowd. These restaurants are definitely worth a try; however, remember to go early as they close by seven on weeknights. Restaurants serving delicious Asian food, even catering to the vegetarians with wide-ranging menu options, are a welcome change from the local food and ‘soda’ restaurants. There are also eateries that serve American-styled burgers, with large food servings that leave you feeling full. In the end, it is the ‘traditional’ foods of Costa Rica that take the cake, literally! |
